José González
חוזה גונזלס בהופעה חיה בישראל

the music of José González is hardly reminiscent of fireworks and confetti, but still that’s exactly how his last album was received all over the world. his low-voiced, serious and introverted music has almost been hugged to death by everything - from the indie crowd to your grandmother.

it is five years since Veneer, his first album, was released. during that time a lot has happened: record breaking sales, worldwide tours and a shower of awards. Heartbeats, his cover for the Swedish 'The Knife' featured in the Sony Bravia commercial and made José González known outside of the indie circuit around the world. in 2006 he joined the electronic-acoustic collective Zero 7, recorded four songs for their album 'The Garden' and toured with them.

last year José González has released his second album, In Our Nature, which is sonically similar to the debut album and contains a breathtaking version of one of the most praised songs of the previous decade, Teardrop, Massive Attack's classic.

when he is not traveling around the world, spreading the charm of his music, 30 years old González, a Swedish of Argentinean origin, lives in Gothenburg, Sweden. before becoming famous, he was sitting at his home recording his intimate songs. today he points out several influences that inspired him to create music; from classics such as Nina Simone and Chet Baker, through Elliot Smith to contemporary artists such as Low and Broadcast.

one of the best compliments he has been receiving for years is a comparison to Nick Drake. in some circles he is called 'the Argentinean Nick Drake'. in an interview he had mentioned that he has always found this comparison too flattering.

the singer-songwriter José González, one of the most appraised artists in the contemporary indie-folk scene, will arrive for a single show, between summer and autumn, between Kippur and Sukkoth, October 11th 2008 at Barby Tel Aviv.
tickets are now on sale: 150₪ in pre-sale (tel: 03-5188123) and 170₪ on the night of the show.
